S&G 6730 satin chrome dial lock

Posted by Brent on 25th Nov 2019

Overall a good product. The keyed lock seems a little cheap and the dial is a little wobbly. To be fair I'm not sure if the brass rod and dial aren't at a perfect right angle to each other or if the dial isn't flat on the back. Could be the delrin bushing too. Any ways when its spun the diail sticks out at the number 50 andi n at 0 so maybe the brass rod is bent. Works as should though . For the money I would expect a bit more quality. But it's made in China. ** MBA Response: There are several issues that come to mind. 1) The dial Key Locking cylinder is not a high security lock. It is a wafer cylinder lock that when lock holds the dial from rotating. 2) The wobble, although it could be caused by a bent spindle as you suggest, is more likely an alignment issue. When the lock body and dial are perfectly perpendicular to each other there is no wobble when rotating the dial. To correct this issue, you will need to have the dial ring mounting screws finger tight which will allow you to bump the dial ring toward the "low point" (or dialing rubbing on the dial ring spot). Continue this process till you get a smooth, perfect, no wobble, dial rotation. Once getting the dial ring in the correct location, you will need to tighten the dial ring screws and re-install the dial. 3) To have the amount of wobble you describe, it appears you have rotated your dial too far out away from the dial ring. To install your dial correctly, thread it into the drive cam till the dial stops against the dial ring. Back it out 1 complete rotation, then continue rotating out till you locate the correct spline (RH, LH,VD, VU) on the drive cam, then insert the spline key. 4) Lastly, the complete lock and spindles are made here in Kentucky, USA, not China as you suggest.
