This was the only electronic safe lock with a backup dial mechanism that I could find in one lock body. Using the electronic input requires entering the 6 digit combo, then rotating the dial clockwise to 92 to retract the deadbolt. Then the safe's handle is turned to unlock the door. To relock, turn the safe handle, then turn the dial ccw. The electronic buttons are easy to press. To enter a dial combination requires a lot of turns due to the 4 dial mechanism. The deadlock mechanism is heavily built. The exterior electronic keypad/dial surround is thin plastic and has two horizontally oriented 8-32 screws attaching it to the safe. I had to drill/tap my American Security safe door which had vertically oriented holes. The dial is metal and is released by a button in the battery compartment. I added a plastic tube around the square dial shaft to prevent it from contacting the electronic cable (which I ran outside the plastic tube, but inside the hole through the safe door). The lock takes extra steps to use compared to my original electronic only lock but gives peace of mind with the dial backup. My lock did not come with instructions for installation or use. The NL Lock website had a download.

This product is inexpensive because the dial and keypad are made of plastic. The dial and keypad works as explained with a little modification. Both dial and electronic code work great. However you need to file down the shaft in the middle to be round so that it does not interfere with the wire causing difficulty turning the dial. After I filed down the shaft to be round in the middle, there was no interference with the cable and it is working great.
