Course Description:

This course was designed for people who want a solid foundation in the planning and installation of modern Electronic Access Control and Closed Circuit TV systems. These two disciplines require many of the same skills and are often installed in conjunction with each other.  It is perfect for people seeking employment with a Security Integrator, for locksmiths who want to branch out into new markets, and for security company managers who want to experience what their field techs deal with on a daily basis. You MUST have attended our Low Voltage class (or be able to pass all of its testing material) because this class builds on that foundation.

Topics explained in-depth include:

  • Electronic Access Control system design and hardware specification
  • Code compliance with Life Safety and ADA
  • Automatic Door Openers
  • Site surveying: What you can and can't do to a door opening and why
  • CCTV system design, choosing cameras, resolution, field-of-view coverage, and placement
  • The components of each system and testing equipment used in implementation
  • Assembling, programming, and testing different brands of live systems
  • Discovering and communicating with Access Control over the network
  • Documentation of your systems and the 80-point checklist of a complete EAC system
  • Connecting and integrating your systems for optimal functionality

Students will need to bring their own laptop PC (MS Windows 7 or later) so they can load software and utility programs. The laptops will be used extensively during class to troubleshoot and program various systems.

Each Student will receive:

  • 2-in-1 screwdriver
  • Work Mat
  • Reference Material
  • MBA USA Course Certificate
  • MBA USA Coffee Mug
  • MBA USA Ruler
  • MBA USA pen
  • Notepad
