Course Description:

This comprehensive course was developed to give both new and experienced field technicians a solid understanding of low voltage systems. It is the foundation class for anyone who plans on installing intrusion-detection systems; access control systems; CCTV systems; network cabling, and even home theater systems. This class (or the ability to pass all the testing material incorporated in it) is prerequisite to taking our Intrusion Detection or Access Control/CCTV classes.

The following is covered in detail:

  • Applications for Low Voltage Systems
  • Understanding basic electricity
  • Using field testing equipment
  • Series and parallel / complex circuits
  • Power calculations
  • Network infrastructure and protocols
  • Network switches and configuration
  • Network router configuration
  • Understanding Ethernet cable
  • Cable testing and mapping
  • The tools and methods for professionally running and terminating wire
  • Troubleshooting new and existing installations and devices
  • And much more

This class is very hands-on, with multiple written and hands-on tests throughout. The technician who successfully completes this course will be well-prepared to continue their education with our Intrusion Detection, CCTV, and Access Control classes. Many states now require that anyone professionally installing low voltage systems be licensed and / or certified. This class provides an excellent preparation for State Certification Exams.

Students will need to bring their own laptop PC (MS Windows 7 or later) so they can load software and utility programs. The laptops will be used extensively during class to troubleshoot and program various systems.

Each Student will receive:

  • 2-in-1 screwdriver
  • Work Mat
  • Reference Material
  • MBA USA Course Certificate
  • MBA USA Coffee Mug
